Tilt or touch? Settling the mobile control debate
It's an old argument, so we decided to test it properly. We picked three racers and ran identical sections using tilt controls, then touch controls, comparing our lap times and how often we bailed off the track.
Touch won on precision almost every time. Tapping and holding gave us cleaner line control through tight corners, especially on smaller phones where tilting the whole device throws off your view.
Tilt has its fans for a reason, though. On wide, flowing tracks it feels genuinely immersive, and there's something satisfying about leaning into a turn. For long straights and gentle curves, it held up fine.
Our verdict: touch for competitive play and tricky courses, tilt for relaxed cruising. The good news is most modern racers let you switch mid-game, so you don't have to commit to one forever.
